British Food Fortnight concluded with the cream of the Midlands Chefs hosting a sell out British Food Fortnight ‘Taste the Midlands’ regional celebration on Thursday 1st October. The Elms ‘Von Essen’ Hotel , in Abberley, Worcestershire saw  some of the region’s most accomplished 2 AA Rosette chefs, prepare a 5 tasting course meal to celebrate the best of the regions produce.

The  ‘Taste of the Midlands‘ event organised by Midlands Dining Club Gourmet Life, hosted by The Elms Hotel in Worcestershire, brought together chefs from the three counties of Shropshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire, plus Louis Barnett, ‘Chokolatier’ from Staffordshire.

Head chef of The Elms, Daren Bale commented “We had been working with Gourmet Life to put this event together for a few months, and I am delighted to celebrate its success. We all had a fantastic night, and from the moment the first chef arrived in the morning, to the close at around 11pm, we all had great fun, and I must say learnt alot about each others methods, and not to mention the superb local produce that was laid on for our 70 lucky guests. It was a real treat, and I look forward to attending the next one, and get the chance to cause havoc in someone else’s kitchen”

The chefs did a fantastic job, and the quality of the produce, enhanced by the clever creation of the 5 dishes certainly made the night extra special. I would also like to thank all the The Elms, and the producers, providers, and of course our diners who made the night possible, not to forget our very own Gourmet Life & ETM  food and wine writer, and host on the evening Philippe Boucheron.”
