Midlands Chefs Fit for the prestigious Ludlow Food Festival Restaurant

Things are hotting up in the food world, along with the weather – This weekend sees the 18th Ludlow Food Festival held in the picturesque Castle grounds of the historic Shropshire Town – Once boasting five Michelin Stars, now is home to a vast range of artisan producers, and inspirational Chefs such as Chris Bradley of Mr Underhill’s Michelin Restaurant, and Will Holland of La Becasse.

From Friday 7th September, to Sunday 9th, over 20,000 foodies from across the World will congregate on historic Ludlow, to consume its history, ambiance, and of course its food. Hosting some of the UK’s finest producers, and chefs, from award winning butchers, to award winning bakers, and of course Michelin award winning chefs – you will be spoiled for choice.

The Chefs Table Pop-up Restaurant concept, created by James Day of Gourmet-Life – Lifestyle Dining club (pictured ) some four years ago, returns to celebrate the region’s best – employing over 25 people over the weekend, and sourcing thousands of pounds of produce from local suppliers, is set to feed up to 600 diners in the Castle grounds “This is a real labour of love” comments James “It was an idea that became reality some three years ago, and has gone from strength to strength – the premise is simple – showcase the regions finest, in this inclusive restaurant, set in this wonderfully exclusive setting. The support has been tremendous and donations of produce from the hard working suppliers have been overwhelming – form award winning sausages, to smoked meats, fish, local venison and game, to the time of hard working Chefs, including Michelin Chefs travelling up from London.” James continues “This year we have teamed up with specialist events management company Corporate Occasions who we worked with on the Pop-up Restaurant High tea concept at Birmingham Airport in June, and they have really added another level to the event this year which promises to be a real treat for any passionate food-o-phile”

Restaurant day times see indulgent dishes with all ingredients sourced from Shropshire and the Marches – areas boarding the Welsh Border between England and Wales, from Shropshire brunch, through aspirational four course lunch, and High Teas. To two extravagant gourmet evening events – Scattered with top chefs, ‘stars’ and producers – as an avid foodie, you will be spoilt for choice. Its not only Shropshire Chefs that will be a appearing, the organisers of the prestigious Chefs-Table Restaurant who will be feeding hungry gourmands over the three day festival have invited Chefs from across the Midlands, and the rest of the UK to ply their culinary skills and creative flair and wow guests throughout.

Friday evening – Gr-EAT British Michelin Chefs, which traditionally stay secret until the day, will delight with 4 courses of indulgent cuisine pushing the boundaries of culinary skills. From the champagne reception, sponsored by Tanners wines & Chase Distilleries, through the four courses, with the ultimate cheese board to finish.

Saturday evening ‘Relish the Finest Chefs – in association with Relish Cook Books who recently launched their Heart of England Midlands book foreword by Andreas Antona of Michelin Simpsons in Birmingham and also containing recipes from Michelin Chef Richard Turner. This evening celebration of classic cuisine sees three of the Midlands top chefs invited including, Chef Adam Bateman from stunning country house hotel Nuthurst Grange in Warwickshire creating a Warwickshire Long Horn Lamb dish, Chef Suree Coates from the King and Thai, Shropshire – Winner Thai Curry Chef of the Year, who is sourcing fish from Birmingham market for her award winning wild Monkfish and prawn Green curry, recently achieving a prestigious Bronze Salon Culinaire Award, Chef Alex Penhaligon is head chef of The Aalto Restaurant at Hotel La Tour In Birmingham. A protégé of two Michelin Star Marcus Wareing, Alex will be sharing their jointly created Michelin inspired dessert of a ‘deconstructed Jaffa Cake’ matched with Chase Marmalade Vodka! Last but by no means least, Celeb Chef Andrew Nutter – A incredible flamboyant TV Chef from Manchester who will be bringing his passions and creativity with regional produce (and vodka), and taking part in the Herefordshire based Chase Distilleries vodka challenge!
