Anniversary celebrated with Italian feast

Giuseppe Iaconi prepares for the anniversary gourmet evening

The owner of a famous Staffordshire canalside pub restaurant is to celebrate his fourth anniversary in style – by laying on a special Italian gourmet feast.

Giuseppe Iaconi opened Il Marchigiano at The Plum Pudding in Armitage in October 2008. Now he will be celebrating the fourth anniversary with a special Italian gourmet evening on October 27.

Guests at the event will get five surprise courses, including one of Giuseppe’s speciality steak dishes from the area of Italy where he was born. They will also get a complimentary glass of champagne.

The Plum Pudding, in Rugeley Road, Armitage, on the banks of the Trent and Mersey canal has been serving Italian cuisine since owner and chef Giuseppe took over.

He said he wanted people in the region to sample the fine foods of his homeland in the Le Marche region of Italy on the Adriatic side of Umbria and Tuscany.

“We had a very successful Italian gourmet evening last month, so we decided to celebrate our fourth anniversary with another one – but one which will be just a little bit more special,” he said.

Giuseppe Iaconi was born and raised in the small hill town of Ripatransone between the Adriatic and the Apennine mountains. He spent his life immersed in the region’s cooking, which is peasant inspired using the finest fresh ingredients.

Booking for the celebration gourmet evening can be done through the Plum Pudding’s web site at or by ringing 01543 490330.

The five-course Italian Gourmet feast on October 27 is priced at £24.95 a head. Places are limited, so advance booking is advised.
