The owners and staff at Restaurant Zest are celebrating after a double triumph at the prestigious Derby Food and Drink Awards.

Restaurant Zest, located on Friar Gate, was crowned the winner in the Blue Riband Restaurant of the Year category, as well as walking away with the Best Customer Service award. For the owners of Restaurant Zest, brother and sister Stuart and Hayley Baddiley, to win two such high-profile prizes is the culmination of seven years of hard work.

Stuart said: “We’re delighted that we’ve been recognised by our peers as the best restaurant in Derby. Both Hayley and I set up Zest with a mission to be recognised as the place to eat out in the city, and it’s a dream come true to pick up these awards. We’d like to thank everyone who nominated us.”

Hayley added: “These awards are a wonderful surprise for us. We hold great store in providing the best customer service possible, and to win the Restaurant of the Year Award is just beyond our wildest dreams. It’s been a long journey for Stuart and myself but to be recognised like this makes it all worthwhile.”

Stuart and Hayley picked up their awards in front of over 250 guests at glittering ceremony held at Derby’s Roundhouse. The evening was hosted by Capital FM’s Dino and Pete and supported by Marketing Derby, QUAD, Derby College and Owen Taylor.

John Forkin, managing director of Marketing Derby said: “Many congratulations to Restaurant Zest and all our winners. The restaurant and bar scene in Derby is a key economic driver for Derby, meaning that people continue to come back to the city centre to spend money time and time again.

“I’d like to pass on my best wishes to Stuart and Hayley at Restaurant Zest, and look forward to them defending their crown at the Derby Food and Drink Awards next year.”

Zest Restaurant is open from Monday to Saturday, Breakfast (9am-11.30am), Lunch (12pm-3pm), and Dinner (6pm-midnight), serving the finest Continental and British cuisine.
