A Bridgnorth pub has won acclaim for its excellent food and drink offer and business success.

Ye Olde Punchbowl Inn in Ludlow Road, has won the title ‘Best Freehouse 2013’ for the West Midlands & Wales region in the BT Sport Great British Pub Awards 2013.

It beat off the challenge of other pubs in the region to claim the title.

The awards are organised by leading pub industry magazine, the Publican’s Morning Advertiser.

Its editor, Rob Willock, says: “The pub has benefited from investment in all areas of activity.

“It places heavy emphasis on the quality of its staff and the introduction of its staff customers service training courses has improved the quality of service even further.

“It has also invested in the building itself, with the new-look function room which has resulted in increased bookings.

“The pub sources a wide range of its real ales and food from local suppliers. It is a very worthy winner of the award.”

The pub is run by licensee Adam Giles and manageress Charlotte Wenlock.

“We would just like to thank everyone for their support this year so far – our regular loyal customers who help with our awards through lots of positive feedback, as well as our local suppliers and local farmers who see the potential of the Punch Bowl’s expansion into 2014 and beyond. Here’s to an exciting second half of the year” comments proprietor Adam Giles.

Ye Olde Punchbowl Inn will now go forward to the BT Sport Great British Pub Awards 2013 final, held at the Hilton Hotel, Park Lane, London, on Thursday September 12 and hosted by actor and comedian Greg Davies.

It will go head to head with five other regional winners for the UK title ‘Best Freehouse 2013’ and also have the opportunity to compete for the overall title of Great British Pub of the Year.
